Another prestigious award for rhp

We’re very excited to announce that Phase 1 of our Cryfield Village project for the University of Warwick has received a well-earned RIBA Award from the RIBA West Midlands region!.  A big thank you to everyone who helped make this exciting project happen, from concept through to delivery.

We started working on this project in April 2014 and the third and final phase of the project handed over a few weeks ago.  Our role on the project involved the architecture, interior design, furniture design, branding and wayfinding signage.

The completed project provides a community of 828 no. student rooms in a mix of houses and apartments across 16 no. new buildings on a brownfield site close to the centre of the campus.    These new buildings create a network of vibrant landscape spaces connecting and weaving between 200 year old oak trees.  The heart of the new development is the Village Hall which provides student social and study space together with management and housekeeping facilities.

Cryfield Village has been a fantastic collaborative effort both within the Studio and working closely with the client team over the last seven years.   The RIBA Awards judge who visited the development summarised very well…

Phase 1 of Cryfield Village has achieved its objective of providing a varied student neighbourhood with a social hub and has done so on a low budget. The client and architect both called on years of experience in the student residential sector, in tandem with responses from a student survey, to create a place for students that will not only enhance their experience at Warwick University, but will set a new benchmark for student housing.”
