Since moving to Cambridge from London to join the practice in 1993, and becoming a director in 1996 David has established himself as a key member of the rhp team as well as the local architectural community. His ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders from strategic brief development to leading the consultant team, and from communicating design proposals to ensuring satisfactory scheme delivery, is of real benefit to all projects.
David’s work within the practice covers many sectors and building types. He has particular skills in relation to project option appraisal and designing appropriate development strategies for a large estate, College or University campus. On a number of sites David has designed and delivered a series of award winning projects, both new build and refurbishment, including RIBA, RICS, and the Housing Design Awards programmes. David was the director in charge of the three projects submitted by the practice in 2016 that saw the practice successfully shortlisted for the BD Education Architect of the Year Award.
In addition to his project work, David is actively involved in the wider built environment community including his role as special advisor to the governors of a local primary school; a committee member of the Cambridge Association of Architects and council member & former chairman of the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry.
